U-ONE is a universal encoder system developed by Johannes Hübner Giessen, a leading expert in shaft encoding and monitoring. It is designed for heavy industrial applications such as ship-to-shore (STS) cranes, rubber-tired gantry (RTG) cranes, steel and cement plants, and mining operations.

🔹U-ONE Generation II (LWL) – Basic unit

The basic units of the advanced universal encoder systems U-ONE Generation II determine the speed and position directly on the application shaft.
They convert the information about speed and angular position in the integrated fiber optic transmitter into optical signals and transmit them via only one fiber optic cable to the U-ONE controller module in the switchboard without interference.
The basic units are suitable for use in new plants as well as for a modernization solution. No additional mechanical components such as speed increasing gears, distribution gears or distribution couplings are required.
The basic units are safety certified up to SIL 2 / PL d.

Functions of the U-ONE(-SAFETY)-LWL basic units

Safe and precise measurement of speed and position of the application shaft
Conversion of data into optical signals
Transmission to the controller module in the switchboard via one fiber optic cable

Speed and position measurement including an integrated FOC transmitter

High accuracy thanks to direct gearless mounting to the application shaft plus high resolution (13 bit singleturn / 15 bit multiturn)
Interference-free signal transmission to the function modules in the switchboard via just one fiber optic cable (up to 1000 m)
High reliability even when exposed to extreme operating conditions
